SEAN EDWARDS & DAN REES
SOMEWHERE NEAR THE BLACK MOUNTAIN HILLS
4 July - 15 August, 2009
OPENING Friday 3 July 2009, 6 - 9pm
Celebrating its first-year anniversary, Tanya Leighton Gallery is pleased to present ‘Somewhere Near The Black Mountain Hills’, an exhibition by Sean Edwards and Dan Rees - two artists at the forefront of a new generation of British artists. Both Edwards and Rees share a specific understanding of the underlying aesthetics of Conceptual Art. The work displays a common interest in linking the personal and anecdotal to a wider art historical context. The artists employ a light-hearted and humorous approach, incorporating the everyday and ephemeral subject matter into their work.
Please note that Dan Rees' ‘Mid Afternoons and Early Evenings’, a performance in the basement of the gallery, will take place for the opening on Friday, July 3rd, 6 - 9 pm, and every Saturday, 12 - 6 pm, for the duration of the show. With special thanks to all the artists and DJs participating in this artwork, including: DJ Limewire (aka Marc Bijl), Susanne Burner, DJ Olga Damnitz, Chris Filippini, Douglas Gordon, DJ Hammer (Jan Hammer and Sophie Hamacher), Hanayo, Caryl Ivrisse, Imri Kahn, DJ Conceptual (Kinga Kielcynska), DJ Freddy Lutz-Kinoy, Danny Kotz, Aram Lintzel, Blake Mawson, Little Mike, Jonathan Monk, Dominikus Müller, Nicola Morton, NOOT, Kito Nedo, Pink Rabbit, DJ Rolex, Eli Sudbrack, Bojan Sarcevic, Jeremy Shaw, DJ Tahiti, Isaac Bigsby Trogdon, Gigiotto del Vecchio (Supportico Lopez), Voin de Voin, Anne de Vries.
